New Pentax KP DSLR camera registered in Indonesia

A new Pentax KP DSLR camera was recently (January 11th) registered at the Indonesian telecommunication agency. The camera will have a built-in Wi-Fi and/or a GPS module and it will be manufactured in the Philippines. This could be the new DSLR camera expected to be announced at the CP+ show (I reported about it yesterday).

Pentax K-3 II DSLR camera listed as discontinued in Japan

The Pentax K-3 II DSLR camera is reportedly being discontinued in Japan according to Digicame-info:

“On January 10th, I noticed that the K-3 II had disappeared from display at a Yodobashi store, so I asked the shop staff to check with the manufacturer. They were told it had been discontinued (even though it is still listed as a current product on the manufacturer’s homepage).”

The camera is still in stock in the US (B&H and Adorama).

The Pentax K-3 II was announced in April, 2015.

Pentax Q system no longer listed on Ricoh Imaging US website

The whole Pentax Q system (including cameras, lenses, roadmaps) has been removed from the Ricoh Imaging’s US website (in both the English and Spanish versions):

The Pentax Q-S1, Q-mount lenses and Q-mount roadmap are still shown on the Japanese website (both the Japanese and English versions) but so is the Ricoh GXR which has been discontinued for a while:

In an interview at Photokina last year, Ricoh representatives confirmed that the Pentax Q mirrorless camera line is alive and will continue to be developed.

The Pentax Q-S1 camera was pulled out of production in May last year but it is still available for sale in the US.

Ricoh is rumored to introduce a new mirrorless system in 2017.
