Pentaxforums published their interview with Ricoh at the 2016 Photokina show. Some key points from the interview:

  • 4K video, HDR and live streaming are considered for future Ricoh Theta models
  • The Pentax Q mirrorless camera line is alive and will continue to be developed
  • Ricoh will consider mirrorless but will not reduce the priority of their existing DSLRs

Keep forgetting that Pentax has that 560mm f/5.6 lens is also compatible with the K-1.

If the Q system is so “alive and well”, why did they not have it in their show area?
Even more: not even one single roadmap, and absolutely no mention ever about the Q. Only heads that were shaking and shoulders rising, if someone from the public would mention that system.

      Good question.
I’m afraid the Q failed in Europe, and likely the U.S. It might still do reasonably well in Asia, particularly Japan.
