A recent tweet from Kimio Tanaka states that Ricoh has no plans for a 24×36 or 645 mirrorless camera:
僭越ながらリコーに代わってはっきりと申し上げますが、あきらめてください、ない袖は振れません。 https://t.co/o1sD89MeTU
— 田中希美男 (@thisistanaka) April 2, 2020
Three things worth noting here:
- He says he speaks on behalf of Ricoh, therefore he is relaying an official position, not expressing his own thoughts.
- He speaks of Ricoh, not Pentax, therefore excluding the possibility of a Ricoh-branded 24×36 or 645 mirrorless camera (the Pentax brand being devoted to DSLRs) as well.
- He uses a funny image to make his point: non-existent sleeves can’t be flapped.
Thanks Mistral75!
In an interview with Nippon Camera magazine last year, Ricoh also said that they have no plans for a mirrorless camera.
