Kimio Tanaka: Ricoh has no plans for a 24×36 or 645 mirrorless camera

A recent tweet from Kimio Tanaka states that Ricoh has no plans for a 24×36 or 645 mirrorless camera:

Three things worth noting here:

  1. He says he speaks on behalf of Ricoh, therefore he is relaying an official position, not expressing his own thoughts.
  2. He speaks of Ricoh, not Pentax, therefore excluding the possibility of a Ricoh-branded 24×36 or 645 mirrorless camera (the Pentax brand being devoted to DSLRs) as well.
  3. He uses a funny image to make his point: non-existent sleeves can’t be flapped.

Thanks Mistral75!

In an interview with Nippon Camera magazine last year, Ricoh also said that they have no plans for a mirrorless camera.

There is no Pentax LX mirrorless camera, but there was a Pentax Digital K mirrorless camera concept back in 1997
