Pentax 645z scored 101 at DxOMark?

DxOMark published the test score of the Pentax 645z medium format camera and it is on the top of the list (with a score of 101):

Here is a quote from DxOMark:

The new RX1R II achieved an excellent DxOMark score of 97 points, with individual scores of 25.8 bits for color sensitivity, a wide 13.9 EVs dynamic range at base ISO (albeit slightly lower at base than the best tested), and a very good low-light ISO score of 3204 ISO. In terms of rankings, only the Pentax 645Z with its physically larger 43.8 x 32.8mm CMOS sensor (nearly 1.7x the surface area of a full-frame 35mm sensor) is ahead by just over a half-stop in noise levels.

Isn’t that a non-statement? looking at the sensor size and the difference in pixel count, it can be guestimated without running tests that the noise levels should be where they are?!

Digital MF was always lacking behind FF in therms of noise levels. This is actually a surprise to me!

And yet DxO just announced that the Nikon D850 was the first DSLR to reach the 100 mark. What short memories they have.

    • just a few days ago wasn’t it, I REMEMBER

    • Well, RED is not a DSLR and the Pentax score was never officially released, so they are still correct.

      • Cynog

I know the RED isn’t a DSLR, but the score for the 645Z was released, if not “officially”, whatever that means. And do we have any reason to believe the score of 101 wasn’t accurate?

        • The 645z score was present only in that table, there was no article or other detailed graphs. Shortly after my post, the score was completely removed.

It all seemed very fishy to me at the time.

  • Big deal, means ZERO in real life out of the lab

Another Pentax blast from the past.

  • I cannot see this test

    • It was never officially published

      • Wow so how you get those data?

        • I was reporting about another camera DxOMark test results and the Pentax was listed on top and I took a screenshot:

          • Wow so they put it on-line and then after someone said hey pentax is best what the F*** they took it away? yeezzz I’ve never fought they could be sooo stupid

          • Not sure what happened and why they removed it. Many people saw the results on the DxOMark website, so I am not making this up.
