Rumors about two new Pentax lenses: 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 and 50-135mm f/2.8

Ricoh is rumored to be working on two new Pentax lenses:

  • HD Pentax-D FA 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 ED PLM WR SR – this is probably the lens labeled “Telephoto Zoom Lens” on the latest Pentax roadmap), that will be combining in-body and in-lens stabilization (see this related patent).
  • HD Pentax-DA★ 50-135mm f/2.8 ED PLM AW

The HD Pentax-DA★ 50-135mm f/2.8 ED PLM AW will be a replacement for the current smc Pentax-DA★ 50-135mm f/2.8 ED (IF) SDM, which is now 15 years old – just like the HD Pentax-DA★ 16-50mm f/2.8 ED PLM AW replaced its predecessor the smc Pentax-DA★ 16-50mm f/2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM.

I was also told that the development of the new HD Pentax-D FA 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 ED PLM WR SR lens has begun quite a while ago but was delayed by difficulties in making the sensor stabilization and optical stabilization work together.

Stay tuned for more details.
