Ricoh has a new patent for a Pentax DA* 11-18mm f/2.8 lens


Ricoh has filed a patent in Japan for what appears to be a new Pentax DA* 11-18mm f/2.8 DSLR lens. The patent was published today (June 21st) but it was first registered back in December 2016. Tokina already has an 11-16mm f/2.8 while Pentax currently has the 15-30mm f/2.8 lens.

Here is one of the calculations described in the patent:

  • FNO: 2.9 – 2.9 – 2.9 (aperture)
  • f: 11.25 – 14.00 – 17.70 (focal length)
  • W: 52.7 – 45.2 – 38.2 (half angle of view)
  • Y: 14.24 – 14.24 – 14.24 (image hight)
  • Bf: 37.72 – 41.22 – 46.99 (back focus)
  • L: 134.42 – 134.06 – 136.14 (lens length)
