Ok what does ED PLM WR RE mean?

I’ve got WR as Weather Resistant, but the rest?

I’m assuming this is the same 55-300 lens as always, but with some new coating or maybe a motor now? The last one was HD and WR wasn’t it?

They are slowly turning into tamron with their lens naming.

      • Neopulse

Pentax works with Tamron in making lenses as I recall.

It does, but this one is probably not the one with tamron. Tamron is notorious for having really long names of their lenses e.g. DI VC USD Eband

RE means pancake telephoto zoom. Just kidding.

I’m reading it as REtractable. The second such lens, hopefully with a better build quality than the 18-50 RE.

Actually it is DA HD (SMC) ED PLM WR RE 🙂
