At last some third-party lenses for K-mount.

Pentax produce great cameras but the lack of good quality lenses and third-party accessories is what makes their market share so miserable.
Sigma, Zeiss, Samyang, Tamron, Tokina, Laowa, Yongnuo do not provide K-mount lenses any more.
Godox, Metz, Yongnuo, Nissin flashes do not support TTL and HSS on Pentax.

Pentax is simply doomed if they do not take some steps to win third-party companies over to third side.

Sigma still supplies some Pentax glass, Tamron also still sells K-mount glass though nothing new. Laowa provides K-mount, Samyang too, and a number of other Chinese companies. Metz does work with P-TTL and HSS

      • I have a separate category on third party lenses:

I do not agree with that.

Yes, Sigma still supply some Pentax glasses, but no one of the new Art lenses comes in K-mount.

Yes, Tamron also have some lenses for K-mount but only those that are 10+ years old. None of their new SP 35m, 45mm, 85mm 1.8 comes in K-mount. If you go to their web site you’ll see that there are 27 lenses for Canon and Nikon and only 8 lenses for Pentax mount.

Samyang and Laowa really have all their lenses in K-mount, I have missed that. Unfortunately all their lenses are manual.

As for flashes – no, no, no, it’s a nightmare if you own a Pentax camera. If you want to buy a wireless trigger with TTL and HSS support for Canon and Nikon there are more than 10 different brand you can choose from. But for Pentax it is impossible for find a wireless trigger with HSS support. And this 1/180 sync speed is another great limitation of the Pentax system.

I don’t get those crazy flash people. I never need a flash.

          > “Sigma still supply some Pentax glasses, but no one of the new Art lenses comes in K-mount.

Sigma Art 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM, 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM and 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM come in K mount.

OK, there is one full-frame Sigma Art lens – 35 f/1.4. But what about Sigma Art 85mm? I cannot believe that there is a full-frame system without high quality fast 85mm lens.

          > “for Pentax it is impossible for find a wireless trigger with HSS support.

The Priolite Hot Sync system allows HSS speeds of 1/8000s with Pentax K-3, K-3 II or K-1 or 1/4000s with Pentax 645Z.

Superb. That’s why I love Pentax – because one has such large choice of accessories and lenses.

I agree Gamer. I recently switched from canon to the K-1. I have the 24-70 lens but I prefer sharper, lighter and bigger aperture prime lenses which Pentax don’t have in their range yet. The limited lenses are not good enough. There is the sigma 35mm art but I’d prefer a 50mm. I tried the Samyang 50mm 1.4 which I found amazingly sharp, but it’s completely useless unless you use focus peaking in live view, waste of time trying to shoot people moving around. I keep checking here for new lens announcements, but finger crossed for early in the new year. If Pentax don’t produce any autofocus “L grade” equivalent lenses soon then I’ll be changing systems again. It’s a shame because the K-1’s sensor is so good.

give a try to the DA*55, it is really excellent.

        • jamesjshaw

I only want full frame lenses… wasting the sensor otherwise.

  • SimenO

Does this have K-A or K-M aperture functionality?

  • aurele

700gr for a 6-6 lens. Am i the only one that think it’s huge for such formula ?

  • Ergo

adorama had these on sale last month for 160. ive used it quite a bit on my k1. i like it for what is at that price. it isnt anything special, and it isnt that bad. its for people that like the samyangs.
