Rumors about new Ricoh GR IV and GR Monochrome cameras are nothing new – they have been circulating for years without any leaks, concrete details, or reliable information. Recently, there was another wave of false claims that these cameras are imminent but they quickly got debunked:

There have been some rumors about a Ricoh GRIII Monochrome camera in the past. An old Ricoh patent (2016-201400) suggested a Bayer sensor without a color filter array (CFA) for sharper monochrome images. The Japanese photographer Kimio Tanaka, who had Ricoh/Pentax insider information in the past and a good track record of reporting relevant information, recently mentioned that Rioch is not planning to release a monochrome Ricoh GR camera similar to the Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome:
