  • Gorgeous portrait, by any standard.

    • BP2012

Facial skin looks oversharpened. Don’t like that.

Check the original – the image posted here is slightly altered.

You cannot distinguish between fine micro-contrast of the lens, and detail achieved with sharpening. So far, this is promising, definitely better than Sigma’s junk sold as “Art”. But more images are needed to judge correctly.

Gorgeous is right! A must have but how much?

Another picture taken with a (prototype of) HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW, this one in full definition:

    1/160 f/1.4 400 ISO.

    • Thanks, will update my post.

    • BP2012

Why so much noise on ISO 400? Is this a K-1 or some Pentax film camera?

      • Mistral75

I would say it’s grain (added in post), not noise.

EXIF data show it’s shot with a K-1.

        • BP2012

It looks like ISO 3200+ on my K-1. Thank you for your explanation but it doesn’t make sense to use grain on photos which should demonstrate lens IQ. Btw I see only portrait examples which is another nonsense because 50mm is the worst focal length for portraits on FF. Not close enough and not wide enough. I see some awkward negative spaces on both samples.
