Barfout published an interview with the Pentax film camera project development team. Here is the recap from digicame-info:
- It was a project that engineers poured their hearts and souls into over the course of about a year, but the prototype, which is still in the study stage, has finally been completed.
- I’ve been working on this project for about a year, and today I actually brought in a prototype that is still in the consideration stage.
- All old cameras had this mechanism (winding lever), but I decided to use it because I wanted to mix the old and the new for a camera made in this day and age. I hope you will enjoy the feeling of using the tools.
- When making a new camera, we use old blueprints and assemble it from scratch, but parts get stuck and don’t work, and we have a lot of trouble. After receiving advice from my former colleagues and getting scolded at times (lol), I finally got to this point.
- I often hear stories of users who have purchased (a used film camera) only to receive it broken, and when they go to the store, they are told, “This cannot be repaired, it’s junk.” However, if the manufacturer could release a new product with a solid warranty, this would no longer be the case. If the prototype we are currently considering goes well, we would like to launch it as soon as possible.
