In a recent survey mostly dedicated to the K-3 Mark III camera (PENTAX 一眼レフカメラ調査 ‘Survey on PENTAX SLR cameras‘), Ricoh Imaging Japan asked Pentaxians about their interest in two models:
- Pentax K-3 Mark III dedicated to black and white (‘monochrome‘) photography (see previous coverage)
- K-70 dedicated to astrophotography
Although they point out that no decision has yet been made on the release of these two models, some of the details given suggest that it is at least being considered very seriously.
K-3 Mark III Monochrome (question n°10):
- Special CMOS image sensor without colour filter
- Better image quality than that of the standard model in monochrome mode, with more natural resolution and noise.
- Monochrome design [see attached images]
- Price: ¥350,000 (tax included) [25% more expensive than the standard model]
- Release date: 2023 or later
K-70 dedicated to astrophotography (question n°12):
- Features: The imaging system is 10 times more sensitive to the H-alpha spectral line than the standard model.
- Restrictions: Not for daytime use.
- Price: ¥150,000 (tax included) [twice the price of the standard model]
- Release date: 2022 or later
