Ricoh Imaging will be holding a series of events to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of the GR DIGITAL camera:

The Ricoh GR DIGITAL camera, first released on October 21, 2005, marked its 20th anniversary on October 21, 2025. This milestone has been celebrated through various announcements and events throughout the year, coinciding with the launch of the latest model in the series, the Ricoh GR IV, which was officially announced on August 21, 2025. Additionally, on October 21, 2025 – the exact anniversary date – Ricoh announced the development of specialized variants: the Ricoh GR IV HDF and GR IV Monochrome.

The highlight of the upcoming celebrations is a three-day commemorative event in Tokyo from November 22 (Saturday) to November 24 (Monday, substitute holiday), 2025, held across two venues: SO1 Gallery and GR SPACE TOKYO, both open from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM. This event is open to GR owners and photography enthusiasts alike, with no entry fee.

At SO1 Gallery (〒150-0001 Tokyo, Shibuya-ku, Jingumae 6-14-15):

  • A special exhibition titled “GR Chronicle 2005-2025 – Tracing the Legacy Through Catalogs” will display select photographic works from official catalogs spanning the GR DIGITAL (2005) to the GR IV (2025). It includes catalog samples, historical GR models, and rare special editions.
  • Featured photographers (in alphabetical order): Roberto A. Noda, Amitamari, Yoshihiko Ueda, Tetsuya Omuro, Kazumi Mimura, Kazutaka Sugawara, Mitsuo Suzuki, Hironobu Mochizuki, Daido Moriyama, and Satoru Wada.

At GR SPACE TOKYO (〒150-0001 Tokyo, Shibuya-ku, Jingumae 6-16-19 Harajuku WAT Building 102):

  • Sales of limited-edition 20th anniversary merchandise (details announced closer to the event).
  • A free shutdown screen rewrite service for GR III, GR IIIx, and GR IV cameras, installing the commemorative design (advance reservation required via Peatix; not available for certain editions like GR III Street Edition).
  • Daily programs:
