Ricoh China recently hosted an internal event showcasing the new GR IV camera to the press and select influencers. No new details were revealed, but this is an indication that we are getting closer to the official release of the GR IV. Here is all we know about the upcoming camera:
- Sensor: 25.74 MP APS-C sensor (likely a 26MP BSI chip, similar to Sony’s a6700)
- Lens: Newly designed 18.3mm f/2.8 lens (28mm equivalent in 35mm format), featuring seven elements with three aspheric lenses for edge-to-edge sharpness
- Image Stabilization: 5-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS), an upgrade from the 3-axis stabilization in the GR III
- Autofocus: Hybrid autofocus system with dual contrast and phase detection, including face and eye detection
- ISO Range: Up to 204,800 for improved low-light performance
- Internal Storage: 53GB of built-in storage, a significant increase from the GR III’s 2GB
- Memory Card: Supports microSDXC cards (downsized from full-size SD cards in previous models)
- Video: Full HD (1920 x 1080) at 60p, recorded in H.264 MP4 format; no 4K video capability
- Display: 3.0-inch 3:2 TFT LCD with 1,037,000 dots, non-tilting touchscreen
- Connectivity: 802.11ax Wi-Fi and USB-C for file transfer, plus compatibility with a new smart device application for improved operability
- Image Formats: Supports 14-bit RAW and JPEG
- Neutral Density (ND) Filter: Built-in ND filter included
- Body Design: Compact magnesium alloy body, measuring 109.4 × 61.1 × 32.7 mm (4.31 x 2.41 x 1.29 in.), weighing 262 g (9.24 oz.) with battery and card
- Shutter Speed: Maximum shutter speed of 1/2500 sec at f/2.8, extending to 1/4000 sec at f/5.6 and beyond

- Redesigned button layout, removing the spinning dial around the four-way directional pad and featuring a fully turning adjustment thumb wheel
- Snap focus system for preset focus distances, ideal for street photography
- Variant: A Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF) model is planned for release after winter 2025, offering softer, cinematic images
