Ricoh released new firmware updates for the GR III and GR IIIx cameras:

Function expansion contents:
- “Mode Memory” item has been added to Customization Settings – Operation Customization.
For 22 items such as ISO sensitivity setting and exposure compensation, you can now select “Remember the settings immediately before powering off” or “Restore to default” when the power is turned off.
Items with a tick mark in the check box on the right side of the selection item will start with the settings just before the power was turned off the next time the power is turned on.
If you want to use the default settings at the next power-on, press [ADJ] to remove the check mark from the check box. - The number of selectable items has been increased from 2 to 32 for “Video/Wireless Button Long Press” in Customize Settings – Operation Customization – Fn Button Settings.
- In the image playback mode, we have added one level of display method on the pinch-in (reduced) side of the enlargement/reduction operation, and added a function that allows you to select images by shooting date.
- Added 2 types of “Electronic Level Gauge Design” to Customization Settings – Display Customization.
You can choose from 3 types: “Type1”, “Type2”, and “Type3”. - Added “0.3m” to the snap distance.
In the snap shooting distance priority mode, “0.3m” can now be selected, and close-up photography is now possible.
*The aperture value is fixed at F16 regardless of the DOF (1 to 3) settings.

* The original end screen will remain even if the firmware is upgraded with RICOH GR III Street Edition and RICOH GR III Diary Edition.

Evolving – New Enhanced Features
- [Customize Setting] — [Memory] function has been added to [Customize Controls] menu.
- For 22 items, such as ISO sensitivity setting and exposure compensation, when the power is turned off, you can select “memorize the settings just before power off” or “Reset to Default”.
- *When there is a “check” in the check box to the right of the selected item, the next time the power is turned on, it will start up with the settings selected just before the power was turned off. To start with the default settings the next time the power is turned, press [ADJ] and remove the “Check” from the check box.
- [Customize Setting] — The number of selectable items in the [Hold Video/Wireless Btn] menu under [Customize Controls] and [Fn button setting] has increased from 2 to 32.
- In the image playback mode, pinch-in (reduction) will switch to the thumbnail view. Additionally, another pinch-in (reduction) will allow selection of images by shooting date.
- [Customize Setting] — Two types of [Electronic Level Design] were added to [Display Customization]. There are three types to choose from: [Type 1], [Type 2] and [Type 3].
- Added [0.3m] to the [Snap Focus Distance].
- In the [Snap Distance Priority] mode, [0.3m] can now be selected and Close-up photography is also possible.
- * Regardless of the DOF (1-3) setting, the aperture value is fixed at F16.

- Simplified fonts have been updated.
