Pentax K-3 Mark III camera AF points arrangement and internal pictures

On October 29th FCC published five additional documents regarding the upcoming Pentax K-3 Mark III DSLR camera. Two of them are of particular interest:

  • Internal Photos” shows pictures of the camera without its magnesium shell. They confirm there is no onboard GPS (no GPS antenna can be seen):
  • User Manual” (the Wireless Communication Guide) includes on page 4/10 a view of the info screen that reveals the AF points arrangement:

There are 41 squares with a lighter border (selectable AF points?) and 60 plain grey squares ( non-selectable/assistance AF points?). The AF points arrangement would therefore be as follows in the viewfinder:

  • Grey with a black border: the 41 squares with a lighter border on the info screen (selectable AF points?)
  • White with a black border: the 60 plain grey squares on the info screen (non-selectable/assistance AF points?)

Which are the 25 cross-type AF sensors remains to be determined. It might be the 5×5 grey squares of the central section in the diagram above.
