The Pentax K-1 upgrade service: detailed description of the different steps with pictures

DC.Watch published a detailed description of the different steps with pictures of the Pentax K-1 ⇒ K-1 Mark II upgrade process:

Loosen the screws and remove the bottom and back bodycover.

Remove the rear LCD monitor and the connector of the flexible cable extending from each operation unit, and preparation for main board exchange is completed. The upper right is the replacement board.

Remove the lead wire soldered to the board. There are more than 20 places for soldering. Melt the solder carefully, remove the wire with tweezers.

Remove the connector of the flexible cable and remove the main board.

The main board is removed from the body. SR unit with a silver frame on which the image sensor rests.

The main board (left) removed from K – 1 and the main board to be attached from now. An accelerator unit (below the PRIME IV chip written PENTAX, which is hidden behind a noise countermeasure seal) mounted on a new board is manufactured by Ricoh.

Attach the main board for replacement in reverse order of removal.

After soldering as before, insert the flexible cable into the connector and attach a special sheet for noise countermeasure as in the initial state.

Temporarily assembled the covers on the top and bottom and the rear, and load the battery for the test connected to the stabilized power supply to the camera. Check that there is no short circuit in the internal circuit.
