Ricoh will release a special-edition GR IV camera to mark the 30th anniversary of the GR1:
October 2026 will mark the 30th anniversary of the Ricoh GR camera line
Here are the details:
Ricoh Imaging Company, Ltd. (President and CEO: Taichi Mori) is pleased to announce that it is preparing to release a limited-edition special edition model to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the launch of the RICOH GR1, the film compact camera that is the origin of the high-end compact digital camera “GR” series.
Since the release of the film camera “RICOH GR1” in October 1996, the GR series has been supported by many people, mainly professionals and serious amateurs. The commitment to the essential values of “GR”—high image quality, speed, and portability—and the continuous challenge to become the ultimate snap shooter, remains unchanged in current products.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the series, we are planning a special edition model based on the “RICOH GR IV” (to be released in September 2025) as one of the special items, and are preparing to release it in limited quantities. We will inform you of the details that have been decided so far, so please look forward to the official announcement.
*Other camera specifications are the same as the standard product.
Of the included items listed above, the metal hot shoe cover “GK-2 (30th)” and the finger strap “GS-4 (30th)” will be sold separately in limited quantities at Ricoh Imaging Stores and GR SPACE TOKYO. Similarly, the metal hot shoe cover “GK-1 (30th)” for the “RICOH GR III/IIIx” series is also scheduled for release.
*Please wait a little longer for further details, which will be announced officially (scheduled for around the autumn of this year).
